Canine Parvovirus is a virus that affects dogs of
all species, though it was thought to originate in felines. The viral infection is spread via fecal matter
and is extremely resilient and contagious.
Canine parvovirus does not infect humans, fortunately. However, this does not mean that pet owners
shouldn’t be concerned—parvo virus exists in many places people wouldn’t think
of. Even feces that have been cleaned up
can leave traces of the virus behind.
Through
our services you can buy effective pet vaccines that will kill the parvovirus
before it becomes an issue in your dog.
Our parvo vaccines, especially NEOPAR® are
professional-grade and come in many different sizes for many different types of
owners and breeders. Beware that many
parvovirus vaccinations need to be shipped in cooled containers, so you should
be wary of letting the product sit in the sun or outside of the refrigerator.
Dogs contracting the parvovirus typically don’t show
symptoms until about 3-7 days later. If
your dog is excessively lethargic, or is vomiting and has a fever or diarrhea,
it’s possible that they have been infected with the parvo virus. These symptoms can cause dehydration,
inflammation and secondary infections.
Whenever your dog is vomiting or has diarrhea, it’s important to realize
that this offsets their electrolyte levels, which can result in intestinal
problems, anemia and more.
Prevention
through vaccination is the only tried and true way to beat the parvo
virus.
This disease is highly contagious and can be
fatal. Quick diagnosis is integral to
survival, so if your canine companion is showing any symptoms of this virus,
take them to a veterinary professional immediately. All that can be done for an infected canine
is a controlled diet, some anti-nausea treatments, antibiotics to control any
secondary infections, direct IV supplements and analgesic medications.
Don’t let your dog catch this menace. Get regular parvovirus vaccinations. Our NEOPAR® vaccine is recognized worldwide,
and we have a few other treatments available too, as well as kits for
parvovirus detection in your pets.
Stay
safe this winter season and be sure to keep your pets safe from Parvo.
